A glorious weekend of weather certainly brought out the volunteers – we had over 20 at the station on Sunday. We have constructed the new access platform into the CCT and constructed the side fence sections as well. This has kept Stephen and Eric busy all weekend with help from Geoff and Paul. Work on the NER coach end has continued with the completion of the seat and the manufacture of card mouldings, so the proper wood ones can be made off site, by Brian, Mike and Duncan. The trackside manhole has been rebuilt by Geoff as the original was frost damaged during the winter.
We have finished the guttering to the back of the cottages and the scaffolding now sits alongside the workshop coach ready to be used in the coach’s repainting. Further branches have been cut off the fallen trees but the ground is so dry at present it was not felt safe enough to try burning it all.
This is an early posting as your scribe is now off to the North Norfolk Railway for a couple of days signalling there.
