At long last we have had some rain! Unfortunately some of it came during Sunday morning rather than overnight. We have been fortunate to have Planet with us over the weekend running trip trains around the station for our visitors. It’s a lovely little engine and we all enjoyed its stay with us. We nearly got Rocket as well on Saturday tea time but unfortunately timings didn’t work out. Maybe next time!?
The North Eastern coach end now sports most of its new mouldings which have been made by Mark using scrap ends of hardwood boards. Some of the new NER top coat, mixed from a sample colour panel, has been applied to the coach and our workshop coach 1111. It did need a further undercoat of deep red to allow the top coat to develop its deep purple hue.
Stephen has continued the mammoth job of sorting out our workshop coach and reboxing all the screws, nails and bolts; Michael has continued making our new barrel rack ready for the 60’s weekend bar and Horace has been painting more of the flail mower, some of which is now in orange top coat. Richard and Patience have been pottering in our gardens and trying to prune the fir trees which sit in the planters in the yard.
Weighbridge Teas has continued to do well selling plenty of bacon sandwiches, cakes and ice creams. Malcolm and Tony 2 assembled a new picnic table for the camping coach while Tony 1 has started the construction of another new poster board!
