5th June 2011

It’s been the weekend of the great erection, with both the marquee and beer tent assembled ready for next weekends 60’s event. We have moved the stage into the main marquee ready for Shazam and Shadows Music to use. Don’t forget they have special guest Alan Jones, bass guitarist with the original Shadows for 16 years. There will be a selection of 4 different York Brewery ales to sample over the weekend, so come on down on the train (parking at Levisham will be very difficult), enjoy the music and drink the beer (there is also wine available). Weighbridge Teas and the Paddock Tea Hut will be open on both days as well, selling their usual selection of wares plus strawberries and cream in the Paddock. Could you spend a few hours in Weighbridge Teas? If so, drop us a line via the Contact Us on the website or give me a call on 07764 390689.
Elsewhere, we have been busy repairing the Whitedale timber sectional building, cutting out the rotten sections and inserting new timber. This should be ready in a week or so for delivery to Goathland, ready for them to re-erect it. Further brick marking out has been done in our yard to assist drivers in parking neatly, along with strimming of the vegetation along the fence line in the yard and elsewhere around the station. Our Paddock hut has benefitted from a top coat of green so it is now all one colour.
Alex has celebrated his first birthday this weekend with a picnic lunch on the Saturday, hasn’t the first year flown by? He had his celebratory visit to the footplate – Tornado, again, hopefully he will remember this when he is older!
