Before we start I must mention the work Luc has been undertaking this weekend and last, completing the soldering on of the new platform lamp tops and David who has worked wonders on our garden, digging out the mares tail.

It’s been a mixed bag of weather this weekend with heavy rain and hail showers intermixed with sunny intervals.  We even had a tornado blow across the valley on Friday evening!

There was a good turnout of vintage vehicles at our station together with a smattering of miniature steam traction engines in our yard.  Meanwhile in the paddock Shadows Music entertained the crowds on Saturday whilst Jive Express did the business on Sunday. Numbers were down a touch on 60’s weekend, all probably due to the poor weather.

Both Weighbridge Teas and the Tea Hut were open and kept busy with hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and cakes.  Our bar sold 6 barrels of beer together with red and white wine.  With the band packed up all that was left was to dismantle the bar, the stage, the beer tent and the gazebos and put it all away.  The main marquee is staying up as it is wet.  It is also moving to another pitch on the paddock next weekend ready for a private event in a couple of weeks time.

Elsewhere a couple of fishplates have been fitted to our headshunt – we are a few short, particularly the lift type but a couple were released following the installation of insulated block joints around the station by the S&T.  Behind our north end hut the grass area, which had the soil placed there by the junior volunteers, levelled out which should allow us to cut it with the mower rather than the strimmer.  Weeding and cleaning of the platform gutter on the up side has continued with half the platform now dealt with.  Stephen has continued tidying up the workshop coach and Tony has done some more painting on his noticeboards.  Paul, with help from Michael, has been installing a webcam on the station.  Once commissioned you will be able to watch a live feed of the trains passing through Levisham.

We have had a meeting with our German co-ordinator looking at the plans for this autumn’s wartime event.  It looks like we will be reprising the Recruitment scenario but there could be ‘Vegeitungswaffe 1’ if we can get it built in time.  Come and see if we do it in time!
