It’s been back to secret weapon building and marquee erecting.  Both the marquee and the beer tent have been erected ready for next weekend’s Steam Gala with Ronny Burnetts Jazz Band performing on the Saturday for the hoped for crowds.  Hunmanby Silver Band will do the honours on Sunday.  Don’t forget the REAL ALE bar will be open both days with bitter and soft drinks available to complement the Tea Hut and Weighbridge Teas, both of which are open each day.  Come and hear the music, tour Chris Ware’s new exhibition, drink York Brewery beer and watch the trains pass. Sounds good doesn’t it?

The secret weapon is now structurally complete and has had its legs trial fitted.  With Andy down from Scotland and James up from South Wales it has been a truly all UK effort.  The leader of the German Re-enactment groups has been down to check the trial fitting of his section to ours and all looks well.  We’re still not telling you what it is but we can confirm it is not: a model railway base, a crane jib for the works on bridge 7 at Pickering, a new footbridge unit for Levisham or a platform extension!

The Track Rod rally came through on Saturday and ripped all our ash level crossing to bits, so we spent today putting it back in place.  We also cleared out the check rails through the crossing, which were full of grease, ash and stone.

Janice, Tony, Doreen and Malcolm had the day off today with Sunday lunch on the diner train.  They sent us three dry buns off the trains to keep our morale up, shame they omitted to send us butter!
