Help! We have been invaded – but not by Germans. This time it was flies – hundreds of the things which invaded the cottage during the week. They were thick on window cills, flat surfaces and carpets when we arrived and thus a lot of time was spent cleaning up after them.
The second part of the secret weapon has arrived and your Station Master had to sign for it from Gerhard Fieseler Werke (Teesside)! The Operating and Maintenance manuals have also been handed over – unfortunately they are all in German! It’s now nearly all ready, but we are still not telling you what it is!
The Art, Music and Steam Gala has gone extremely well, with large crowds on both Saturday and Sunday. The bar and Tea Hut, together with Weighbridge Teas, sold out of many goods including ice creams, sandwiches and beer. Following the end of the event the bar tent has been dismantled and is inside the main marquee to dry out during the week.
Elsewhere, works have continued in the CCT to improve the lighting in there. New cover boards have been made for the station notice boards to allow temporary boards to be affixed with appropriate Special Events displays. Further trials with the flail have continued with one or two small items noted for improvement.
Remember at War Weekend (14/15/16th October) there is ABSOLUTELY NO PUBLIC PARKING ANYWHERE NEAR LEVISHAM STATION so come on the train to experience the atmosphere.
