Cor wot a scorcher! Talk about different from last week, hot and sunny with no wind to speak of. This has helped us work outside a lot more. After cleaning down the trespass guard components last week, we were able to rebuild all the units this weekend incorporating a new design which means we can lift them out in sections using just two people – a lot better than the old ones which were a struggle for even 4. We even managed to re-use a large quantity of the original nails! The few spare bits have now gone into dry store ready for use when a unit needs repair in the future. The crossing deck is holding up well and now sports white lines to keep the vehicles using the middle of the crossing. We had help again from the loco dept. with Beth Peppercorn giving us a few hours.
Elsewhere our new ‘lean to’ has received a coat of wood preservative and the door has had a coat of paint. Hopefully this will keep it smart and long lasting. The notice boards have had their black panels touched up where the weather had been attacking them.
Weighbridge Teas had a very good weekend with ice creams selling like the proverbial hot cakes. They are having to order more in for next week. Come and see their new varieties and sample their wares.
