Boy, did it rain on Saturday night/Sunday morning! All the streams and rivers are up, the lineside where we are trying to renew the fence is under water. At least all our ‘slots’ into the lineside stream were running well, showing the benefit of our work earlier in the month. One of our wagon sheets had collapsed, necessitating baling it out before we could re-erect it!
In our paint shop we have continued the mammoth painting exercise of the timber for the new lamp room. Stephen has continued tidying up the vans and even made a new support rack for our long reach pole saw. The Christmas lights including the ‘Big W’ have been set out ready for erection next weekend. North of the station further brush cutting and strimming has been undertaken.
On Saturday afternoon we trooped down to the Learning Centre in Pickering for the second ‘Open Forum’, hosted by Philip Benham. He gave a presentation covering the last operating year and there was opportunity afterwards for a few questions. If readers who are volunteers want to see the presentation it is on the main NYMR volunteer website.

Don’t forget that the road to the station is still CLOSED until Christmas, at least, whilst they rebuild it. Access is only by foot.
