4th-6th March 2013

Well the work week is going extremely well, with work ahead of schedule. Major work has concentrated on the construction of the new, old, lamp room on the Up Pickering bound platform. Works are well advanced on this and we hope to have it completed by the weekend.
In the station yard, the yard crane base now has it concrete placed thanks to 6m³ ready mixed concrete being delivered at 8am this morning. All went well, the formwork held without a creak. Now we wait for it to set fully before removing the formwork and carrying on.
Up the line we have recovered more timber from the winter tree fest (with apologies to the North Norfolk who coined the phrase) with several trips coming by Pway trolley, whilst at the same time delivering second hand fence rails to repair sections missing and damaged en-route.
In the paddock the new lean to hut now has it slotted screen side installed – this being off-cut short lengths of old fence rails. In between keeping us all in hot drinks and lunch, Weighbridge Teas have been sanding down the new picnic table timber and giving the weighbridge a good clean down and smarten up. Beth meanwhile has been on a 2 day first aid refresher course, which she passed, plus keeping us all full up in hot dinners.
All this would not have been possible without the substantial help from Network Rail colleagues who have provided a lot of the labour this week, supporting our own Wombles and Weighbridge Teas staff.
