Well its been Beatle mania at the station this weekend, with a smattering of Elvis for good measure. With 5 Divide and The Cavernites performing on stage over the weekend the station rang with music. Hundreds came to listen, partake of the real ale and keep both the Tea Hut and Weighbridge Teas busy all weekend. We didn’t run out of beer, but it was close with the wine.
Each morning the marquees needed opening, seats setting out, bins checking and the bar set up. With the event over each evening it was tidy up the paddock, pick up litter, tidy everything away and wash up ready for next time.
A big thanks to all the helpers in the Womble Catering division for all the help preparing the wares and manning (personning) both outlets all weekend from a start on Thursday morning to get everything ready. Could you help next time? Drop me a line via the website and we will get you on board.
North of the station a couple more loads of logs were brought down. We have recommenced the lineside fence renewal now the tide has gone out. We have carefully dismantled the original fence and we might get some bits out of it for re-use further north. 12 posts and associated rail were installed, with a few more to go. A lot of rusty metalwork has been cleaned down and primed and undercoated as well.
The Booking Office was covered both days by Ann and Fergus has covered the safe operation of the level crossing.
