We attended a Special Events meeting on Saturday to discuss the last 3 events, what went well, what didn’t etc. before we make a decision on next years choices.
The outside of the General Room has had a full sand down and repaint of the cream, whilst the copper beech area has been sanded and undercoated – thanks to a couple of Junior Volunteers. The back of the Warehouse has also had its cream paintwork completed – the copper beach will be done tomorrow.
The Great Eastern van side has been given another coat of undercoat and is ready for its top coat and then lettering.
Today, Sunday, we have had the meeting of the Junior Volunteers – all 70 of them!, prior to their work week on the railway. They came for a general briefing by their leader, Roger Swift, plus a dozen required a PTS course and exam undertaken by your scribe. They all passed.
On the dock Stephen has been making further props for this year’s Wartime Weekend.
Weighbridge Teas had a busy weekend for ice creams and also opened the Tea Hut for the volunteers meeting.
This week we will have the Junior Volunteers with us on Monday and Friday undertaking a variety of tasks around the station, so some of us Wombles will be around to keep them company and spur them on.
