Well, the heatwave may have abated but its still dry and pleasant.
We have made new hardwood flitch pieces for the bracket signal posts (these are the timber ‘fancy bits’ which go on either side of the slot) out of some longer pieces we had in stock.
The lamp room floor has had some high lumps of uneven concrete levelled and a new cement/sand screen laid to finish it off. The stable door has had a final adjustment and been given a further top coat.
On the lineside around bridge 14 all the cut logs have been tidied up and delivered to another lineside neighbour. There is still a lot of scrub to burn there, but finding it at the moment through the tall grass and bracken is easier said than done.
On the Tea Hut the serving hatch has been replaced as the original was suffering from rot. A new weather boarded outer protects it from the weather, whilst internally a ply face gives a smart finish when the hut is open for business. A clean down of the rest of the outside is underway and primer has already been applied. Another coat is being applied tomorrow by the Tea Hut team so if you see them give them a wave (use ALL your fingers!).
The annual Womble Outing to Whitby is on the 9th September this year, contact the Weighbridge Teas team to make your booking.
