28th/29th September 2013

Another sunny weekend, albeit with a cool chill in the late afternoon/evenings. As it’s been steam gala we have been out on the lineside south of the station clearing large amounts of foliage. This has been encroaching onto the sides of the trains as they pass. The section from bridge 13 to the distant signal (about ½mile) has been tackled, with all the west side done and ⅔ of the east side completed. Train crews can now even see the distant signal!
At the station, the Wartime special project has been virtually completed with all components fitted and camouflage paint applied (it comes in a tin with 2 colours!?!). New parking (or lack of) notices have been made ready for the event. Remember, there is NO PARKING anywhere near the station over the whole of the Wartime Weekend. There is also no parking next weekend due to Wartime Weekend preparations.
On the bracket signal the short ladders have been completed up to gloss and a further casting cleaned down and undercoated.
Weighbridge Teas have had a good weekend with ice creams again going like ‘hot cakes’.
