5th/6th October 2013

Blimey its been a long weekend, but nice and sunny again. It has been the big erection weekend with the large marquee, the kitchen tent and the ‘new’ green tent all erected in the station yard. Then the picnic tables needed bringing across from the paddock (all 16 of them), the bar, the kitchen floor and tables bringing in, the marquee decorating with trees and lighting and power installed. Oh, and the special project had to be hand shunted from its construction site onto the front siding, ready for use next weekend – it’s a lot easier said than done!!
All this was only possible thanks to a large Womble turnout, plus substantial help from the Junior Volunteers on both days.
Weighbridge Teas also had a good weekend trade wise, again with a Junior helper, and they also got the Tea Hut ready for next weekend. We must say Get Well Soon to Doreen and Richard, who are both in hospital (with separate problems). We are looking forward to seeing them in the not too distant future, fully recovered and well again.
Next weekend, as if you need reminding, is Wartime Weekend. It runs from Friday to Sunday inclusive and for safety reasons there is NO PARKING ANYWHERE NEAR THE STATION. You are strongly recommended to come by train or expect a long walk. As usual we are in Occupied France and there is a large German Army contingent at and around the station. You have been warned, so come and have a great weekend.
