All the welding is now complete and some ballast has been delivered, but a lot more is needed…. We have been out helping the Pway to reclip the rails around the weld sites – they had to be unclipped so that the rails can be exactly level before welding.
Down the line at the concrete Pway hut, materials have been moved there ready for the roof repairs. We are 1 roof corner piece and 1 side piece short (they have broken down), so we brought 1 of each back so to make moulds of them. These have been used to cast a couple of new units, which are now setting hard. At the hut itself, we have fitted a temporary sheet over the roof to try and help it dry out. We also dug out along the front face to clear the weed growth, and have installed some condemned concrete sleepers to hold back the ballast from the building.
The repainted mileposts have been taken down the line ready for digging in once the old rails have been lifted, as has the gradient board which was stored in the Pway hut.
Back at the station a new door for the hut has been sanded and primed. New planking for use as cladding inside the lamp room has also been delivered and is drying out.
