26th/27th April 2014

Its steam gala time again, with lots of engines and freight trains running into our station. First up was the placing into store of another 25 picnic chairs which we have purchased (another 15 are still to come). Several signalling items and lamp housings have been cleaned down, primed and painted. A wheelbarrow tyre has been repaired (it had a thorn through the inner tube) and another has now done the same! Work has continued on the new bracket signal, both on drawings and on putting all the individual parts together. The platforms have been swept clean of accumulated dirt, weeds and chippings – a couple of barrow loads have been removed! General tidying up of the gardens continues……..
Down the line (1 mile away to be accurate) further paint has been applied to the Pway hut window frames and more scrub has been cleared away from the lineside fence, with the fence overhauled where necessary. The mini digger has been kept busy clearing yet more lineside ditch near Bridge 13. This is now flowing freely after being well and truly bunged up.
Weighbridge Teas were open for the 3 days of the gala and had a steady trade. The new freezer has arrived, together with the till and both have been commissioned.
