5th/6th July

Apologies for the late posting but signalling commissioning at Grosmont kept your writer busy all weekend.
Another quiet weekend at the station before the Vintage Vehicle event next. The bolts on the picnic tables, built last weekend, have been trimmed so users do not catch themselves on them. The tables at the back of the cottage, used by the volunteers have been strengthened where timber has gone rotten. More paint has been applied to the Newtondale platform bench together with a sanding and priming of one of the new planks for the second one. In the paddock, the marquees have been checked and the stores moved around to allow the grass to grow (and recover). Stephen has continued tidying our workshop up and finding new homes for the recently donated tools, screws and bolts, a job easier said than done!
With the poor weather on the Sunday and between events, Weighbridge Teas had a relatively quiet weekend. It did however allow the team to continue on the tidying up of the stores cupboard and dispose of the old, damaged fridges and freezers. They will be back at the station on Friday again getting ready for the weekend when both outlets will be open.
