27th/28th September 2014

Its been another successful weekend for the station and the railway as a whole. This year’s Steam Gala, with its Great Western theme, was supplemented by Real Ale bars at Goathland and our own Levisham station. This was in addition to the usual Weighbridge Teas offerings, which did so well they nearly sold out! The bar this time was based in the General Room on the platform and sold out of York Brewery’s Guzzler beer and 1 barrel of Blonde from Darwin Brewery. Seats and bar tables (made out of old beer barrels of course!) were available both inside the room and on the platform.
Around the station Thor, the armoured wagon, has had its paint touched up, the air vents (milk churn lids!) recovered and the repaired gun barrel test fired – it made a good bang! Thor was also pushed into place nearer the station in the yard. The trench sections have also been overhauled ready for a fortnights time. This was all done with the help of several re-enactors, who joined us over the weekend to prepare for the big event.
