4th/5th October 2014

Fortunately the dire weather did not appear this weekend, just a couple of hours of drizzle on Saturday morning, with sunshine for the rest of the time.
The good weather was necessary as we have had to erect the 3 marquees in the station yard for next weekends Wartime Weekend. These then needed 20 picnic tables moving in from the paddock, the pallets and flooring into the kitchen marquee, lights and power installing and the interior decorating with branches and bracken!
We were helped immensely by the Junior Volunteers who came down both days to fetch and carry. They also erected the kitchen tent for us. Thanks must be expressed to the loco crew and guard from the Saturday tea time train, who provided much needed muscle, to raise the green marquee into position.
We think we are now ready for next weekend (Thursday to Monday incl) when we return to 1943 in Occupied Europe. Remember, THERE IS NO PARKING ANYWHERE NEAR LEVISHAM STATION NEXT WEEKEND, REGARDLESS OF WHO YOU ARE.
Weighbridge Teas had a good weekend with plenty of passing trade and the Juniors all requiring sustenance. They have now gone home for a rest before next weekends marathon selling spree.
Gardening continued apace on the Down platform with new compost added from our heap and the station grass was cut yet again, when will it stop growing?
