We took delivery of the new rubber level crossing panels on Tuesday this week, at Newbridge, where with help from the PWay Dept they were transferred from the lorry and placed onto a plate wagon for delivery to the station. Whilst there we also loaded up with the additional sleepers, chairs and other fittings needed for the job.
We started dismantling the crossing this afternoon/evening with both checkrails and one of the running rails removed. We had support from the S&T Dept who disconnected the track circuit tail cables for us. Mid way through these works the PWay Dept arrived with our train – a plate wagon of ballast, the level crossing panel wagon plus a Weltrol with the mini digger and miscellaneous lifting tackle. Thanks guys. Its all systems go now for tomorrow morning.
