Its nearly Christmas but we are still working at the station. The south end of the brake van has been wire wheeled down and received 2 coats of primer. Inside the end of the veranda the wooden roof has had the paint burnt off it, as has the remainder of the inside of the body of the van. The north end has also been cleaned down and had a coat of primer applied.
At the level crossing, the gap over the point rodding is now closed over after we laid blockwork walls and topped it with manhole covers. The covers are designed to hold block paving (or similar – other products are available!).
The timber ramp supports, made last week, have been placed and filled with ash to make the ramps for the south yard staff walkway. The north yard walkway has had its ash ramps made as well.
We recommence activities on the 27th, so do please come and join us. Weighbridge Teas are also open on the 28th, 29th and 30th selling their usual wares and treats.
I will finish with wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
