This weekend is the calm between events again, with us all looking forwards to the Vintage Vehicle event next weekend. Along with many old cars and motorcycles, Jive Express will be playing LIVE on Saturday and Sunday in the Paddock. A Real Ale bar will also be available to keep you thirst free.
It’s been a glorious weekend of weather, lovely and warm after a damp start on Saturday. Indeed it was so good not only did we have lunch outside, but also evening dinner on Saturday!
At the station the Levisham running in board is now repaired, repainted and back up on the Up platform. The concrete posts were given a new coat of white paint whilst the sign was missing. The Levisham sign next to the Weighbridge has now also come down for frame repairs. A new bottom spar is required – we fortunately had one in stock, which has now been cut to size and part painted. The Levisham running in board on the paddock side has had its rear repainted together with the top spar. In the paddock, the new trolley store has had the roof painted in bitumastic. The new timber for the next 3 picnic benches has been sanded and a start made on making them.
At the brake van, the internal cream has been given a second coat and the front of the axleboxes cleaned down and painted up to undercoat. New footboards are being manufactured, as necessary, to replace rotten ones.
Further rotten wood has been removed from the Palvan and the old, rusty bolts cut off. The 3 repainted mile posts have been collected for reinstatement and the 2 rusty ones cleaned down and primed. A start has been made on cleaning all the platform lamps (they get covered in fly poo on the inside of the glass!), with the high lamp on the front of the General Room tackled first.
Weighbridge Teas had another good weekend, with lots of visitors purchasing their wares and sale items. They have also been getting ready for next weekend.
