Normal service has now resumed, with the Station Master back from holiday. Indeed within 10 minutes of arriving at Saturday tea time a train arrived and promptly failed. He thus had to switch in the signal box (it was closed for the evening) to help dispose of the failed engine (it is now in our North Yard), and get other trains past!
Around the Station, the Tea Hut now sports its new overall roof with just the side edges to complete. The GUV storage van at the end of the up platform has been looking tatty for a while now and its turn has come to be smartened up. It has been wire wheeled down and the rust cleaned off. The loose filler has been chipped off and the poor areas given a coat of primer. A circuit controller (a piece of S&T metal gubbins) has been dismantled and cleaned down (it was seized and rusty), and a wheel bearing for one of our trolleys has been welded back together.
Weighbridge Teas had another good weekend, together with the Tea Hut which opened on Friday for the story train visitors – who were all dressed as pirates this time.
