The passenger trains have stopped so we have been out and about cutting down the lineside trees and scrub. We had to arrange, in advance, our own work site within the Pway Depts main possession (they were changing rails elsewhere) to ensure we were protected. This time we have started at Bridge 16, 1½ miles north of the station. To make matters slightly more complicated there is a BT aerial telephone line running alongside the line here. However we got the trees down and the majority are chopped up. There is a lot of scrub to burn, but this will have to wait for drier weather.
When the light failed it was back to the station to run in a lot of CAT5 computer cables through our ducts. These are needed by the S&T Dept. to upgrade the telecommunication systems around our station. Some of them went in easier than others (in the dark!). Enough said really.
Weighbridge Teas are now closed, the staff having a well-earned break!
