After a lot of rain and sleet yesterday, today was cold and icy, but clear.
On Saturday the rain kept us working inside, with continuing repairs to the Meschersmitt and painting of miscellaneous bits for use around the station. The wood floor in the cottage was given a good sand down, and a couple more coats of vanish to protect it for the winter. We even managed to make a new timber kitchen roll holder (to replace a plastic one ‘killed’ by a kamikaze hot water flask).
The drier weather today allowed us to continue at the back of the yard, digging a cable duct trench around some very large tree roots. These have to be carefully protected as we dig under them to thread the ducts through. We also seemed to hit the water table (14” down), as it quickly got very wet.
