After much awkward digging we managed to get a clear duct route under the tree roots through to the manhole at the back of the station yard. This is now ready for the Christmas week works.
With a dry day we have finally got back up the line to begin burning the scrub we cut down over a month ago! 2 large fires allowed us to clear a reasonable area, but there are a couple more days of fires to go before we clear everything there right back to the retaining wall against the river on the West side of the line.
At the station, the painting has continued and the interior of the brake van is now virtually complete, paint wise. More ‘blank’ door plates have been cut out – these will allow us to change more of our GB ones to French at Wartime Weekend. In the cottage, a new pelmet unit has been made for the downstairs toilet door. The roadside edge has been trimmed back where the grass is encroaching onto the tarmac. The lineside ditch just north of the storage hut has been cleared ready for culverting in the New Year.
May we wish all our readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We are in attendance between Boxing Day and the 4th January inclusive so come and join in. Weighbridge Teas will be open on the 27th, 28th and 29th December from 10-4.
