It’s been a weekend of opposites with rain all day Saturday and dry on Sunday. The rain kept us inside where, at long last, Michael and myself have completed the frame repairs to the Meschersmitt body and tail unit. It is now awaiting the re-fixing of the aluminium skin. In our workshop Stephen was busy repairing and modifying the tools and condiments shelf which sits on the end of the Weighbridge building.
The better weather today meant we were back up the line near the 14 milepost. Several more trees, which were leaning dangerously towards the railway, have been removed. Many of these once felled reached or even crossed beyond the track, justifying our reason for cutting them.
Planning continues for our Winter Work Week (25th February until 6th March inclusive) with a wide variety of projects planned, both at the station (van door repairs, shed base and framing, paddock soil spreading) and along the lineside (fencing, logs, scrub burning). The more people the better as we will be able to have several projects running at the same time. All being well Weighbridge Teas will be on site to keep us fed and watered. Come on down. Remember, your station needs YOU!
