21st and 22nd May 2016

It’s been Family Weekend, when the railway encourages families to all come along and try their hand at volunteering. A wide range of activities were undertaken at the station – fitting fence rails and nailing up, recovering old fencing materials, de-nailing and sorting through; burning scrub and scrap fencing; strimming the grass edges; painting the garden edges white; repairing a Meschersmitt wing; fitting palings to the new shed; treating the shed and its doors with preservative; cleaning down 4 mileposts (brought off the line due to the poor state of the paint) and priming; weeding the track through the station; cleaning ditches of light weed; assembling and delivering a new litter bin to Newtondale Halt; delivering and erecting the refurbished Newtondale Halt running in board and finally moving the picnic benches in the paddock clear of where the marquee will go next month! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and went home happy.
Weighbridge Teas had a good weekend, including fuelling all the families, and are looking forward to the Bank Holiday weekend when they are open Saturday through to Tuesday inclusive.
To give a bit of advance warning, Shadows Guitar Club will be performing at Levisham on Sunday 7th August in the paddock, from 11am through to 4pm. Weighbridge Teas and the Tea Hut will both be open for this event.
