A three day Bank Holiday weekend and bar Sunday the weather was not bad at all. Apologies for the delay but my computer died.
With a good turnout of staff, a concerted effort was undertaken north of the station dismantling some more old fencing and installing new. A total of 23 posts, together with the top rail were installed. Further lineside scrub and trees were cut down to allow us to continue the fencing onwards.
At the station, the Meschersmitt cockpit area has been rebuilt and strengthened. It was then manhandled into another van, freeing up space in our works van ready for the next job. The next job is the renewal of a pair of Palvan doors. New hardwood timber has been cut to size over the last couple of weeks ready for this. The first original door has had the steelwork stripped off it, then wire wheeled clean and primed. All being well, next weekend should see the start of rebuilding the door framing. Paint has continued to be applied to the mileposts and some more steelwork parts have been cleaned down ready for painting.
In the station yard, not satisfied with the new shed, Stephen has commenced the erection of a lean-to alongside it. Again this is using second hand timber and slates. The lead flashing to the top and sides should be finished next weekend.
Grass cutting continues as it continues to grow like there’s no tomorrow. There is a visit from a group of Mark 1 and 2 Land Rovers next Sunday so come along and see them.
Weighbridge Teas had a steady stream of visitors over the 3 days, plus quite a bit on Friday whilst they were setting up. The cart continues to do well, plus the usual sweets and treats. They have been happy to accept a new (to them) microwave and grill, to complement their existing kit in the Weighbridge.
