1st and 2nd October, 2016

Our Welsh Steam Gala and Beer Festival has been and gone. There was an excellent turnout of steam locos passing through, on passenger and freight workings. The General Room was converted into a pub for the 3 days, and 3 different ales were on offer – Darwin Brewery’s Expedition Ale, and York’s Black Bess Stout and Guzzler.
The rotten Shock van door frame has been repaired and new ply cut and primed ready for inserting into it. The Palvan door framing has also been repaired, ready for it to be rebuilt with the new hardwood pieces.
Preparations for Wartime Weekend continue, with a lot of time spent constructing one of the key display items. This has been a combined LSG and re-enactor effort. There have been lots of queries from passing visitors, but we still are not telling what it is!
The rose trimming and tying back has just about been completed, allowing more trimming of the bushes around the Weighbridge to be undertaken. The logan berry has also been wrestled with, so hopefully it will produce lots of fruit next year.
Talking of the Weighbridge they had a bumper busy 3 days, with extra orders having to be placed with several of our suppliers. They were looking forwards to having some quiet spells so they could prepare the Wartime Weekend order, but that went out of the window.
Following the Gala, War Weekend is now only 2 weeks away, we expect to be very busy, and there will be no public parking at the Station over the next few weekends.
